Hebbe Falls: Come, Fall in Love with Nature

Hebbe Falls are majestic waterfalls in the state of Karnataka situated inside a coffee estate near a famous hill station called Kemmanagundi. Surrounded by coffee plantations and dense forests, these waterfalls provide a mesmerizing view to the tourists.

Falling from a height of around 550 feet, these falls get divided into two stages and are referred to as Dodda Hebbe and Chikka Hebbe with Dodda meaning big and Chikka meaning small in Kannada language.

If you are in Bangalore and looking for a place with scenic beauty away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Hebbe Falls is a perfect place for you. It is situated 240 km from Bangalore and only 180 km from Mangalore with the nearest tourist attraction being the famous hill station called Kemmanagundi that is situated only 10 km away from Hebbe waterfalls.

Kemmangundi happens to be the summer retreat of the King Krishnaraja Wodeyar 4 of the Wodeyar Dynasty. You can come here in the morning and return to your hotel by the evening. You are allowed to take your cameras along with you so you can capture the breathtaking beauty of the waterfalls in your camcorder and still cameras. Be prepared to walk a little as you can come on a 4 wheeler but you have to walk deep inside the forest for about half an hour to reach the location of these waterfalls.

Take a relaxing and refreshing bath in herbs infused water

You can take a refreshing bath in the cool water of these waterfalls and get relaxed and also have some with your friends. It is believed by the locals that the water of these falls is laden with herbs and minerals and a dip in this water can cure you of several ailments. If you are fond of trekking, you can take a 8 km long trek from Kemmanagundi to reach Hebbe Falls. The nearest railway station to these waterfalls is Tarikere while the nearest airport is the Bangalore International Airport.

Other places of tourist attraction in nearby area

Apart from Kemmanagundi, other places of interest for anyone coming over to see Hebbe Falls is another majestic waterfall called Kalhatta Giri Falls. Kallatta Giri falls are created by water falling down from Chandra Drona Hill. There is a famous Shiva temple called Veerbhadreshwara Temple made in front of these waterfalls.
